SUMMARY

 

 

 

Purpose.........

Team leader for the buyers in Pacific Fresh Seafood ( Sacramento , Stockton, and San Francisco ). Responsible for both securing product and coordinating the activity of other buyers throughout the Division. Organizational and teamwork skills are essential.  

Scope............

Securing and coordinating product efficiently and cost effectively is central to the Company’s overall strategy and Mission of Operational Excellence.

 

 

Required........

Excellent written communication and verbal skills.  Use of general math and accounting skills. Must be able to work under stressful conditions at times, problem solve, and meet unpredictable time demands.  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.  Must consistently project the Diamond Philosophy in a positive manner.  Ability to travel.

 

 

DUTIES

 

Typical...........

Duties include but not limited to:

Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all times

Ensures compliance of purchasing policies and develops new ones
 

Check and adjust stock, as well as move old product

 

Purchase new product to ensure that stock inventory requirements are achieved

Ability to estimate future supply requirements and to review and compare physical inventory

 

Identify discrepancies, as well as participate in corrective action to remedy the inventory

 

Schedule and coordinate product pick-ups

 

Responsible for developing weekly sales reports

 

Provides ongoing training for team members

 

Ensures that buyers are preparing daily PO ’s for the receiving department

 

Maintain a positive image of the company in the market and community

 

Maximize company advantages and strong points in the marketplace

 

Work with other Purchasing Managers to gain/share knowledge regarding all aspects of buying.

 

Understand market conditions at all times

 

Analyze current sales, inventory positions, planned sales and promotions, and ad items to order all products.

 

Actively searches for new vendors and products

Perform a daily walk-through in cooler/freezer/deli to ensure product quality, shelf life, product rotation and inventory accuracy

 

Coordinate product sample shipments and perform product demonstrations with sales personnel

 

Advanced knowledge of supply chain management processes and disciplines, as well as well as principles and practices of warehousing; materials handling and proper distribution

Strong knowledge of distribution/logistics concepts and principles

Relay all information pertaining to seasonality, quality, pricing increases, etc. to all sales staff

 

Negotiate as necessary to reach the best possible price and service guarantee

 

Attend daily inventory meeting

 

Review, analyze and recommend purchase orders

 

Perform other duties, as assigned

 

 

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION

 

Required........

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree.  Prior purchasing and inventory knowledge, preferably in a distribution/warehouse environment.

EXPERIENCE

 

Required........

Knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel programs.  Excellent communication, leadership, and management skills.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Usual.............

Warehouse environment; use of the computer and phone on a daily basis.

Special...........

Must be able to make quick decisions and communicate effectively.
