Assistant Transportation Supervisor

SUMMARY

 

 

 

Purpose.........

To supervise transportation dept and develop team members productivity and efficiencies.

Scope............

Responsible for properly and efficiently carrying out all logistics, maintenance and transportation functions of the department.

 

 

Required........

 

Successful candidate must have a Class A CDL Drivers License.  Must be highly organized, have excellent supervisory skills and be a team player.  Must be able to operate a vehicle in occasional adverse weather conditions. 

 

DUTIES

 

Typical...........

Duties include but not limited to:

Be a role model in projecting and applying The Pacific Group Diamond Philosophy (Productivity, Quality, Excellence and Teamwork) and promote teamwork at all times

Supervise delivery team members and assign specific responsibilities which include; route assignments, account processing, route delivery and other transportation related activities.  Emphasis is on customer service and productivity

 

Ensure that delivery fleet equipment is maintained according to manufacturer/company standards

 

Minimize downtime

 

Maximize safety

 

Develop cross training program for drivers to improve their abilities

 

Ensure compliance of all Federal, State, Local and DOT Regulations and Requirements

 

Interact with all departments to ensure all customer orders are delivered with superior service

 

Ensure proper and immediate follow-up and documentation on all coaching related issues

 

Work closely with transportation training supervisor and transportation manager to achieve targeted objectives and goals

 

Utilize business support systems to improve efficiency

 

Provide and promote a clean and safe working environment at all times

 

Work with Penske on vehicle maintenance

 

Assist in developing incentive program

 

Perform other duties, as assigned

 

 

SUPERVISION

 

Received........

Reports directly to Transportation Supervisor.  Work independently with little supervision.

 

Given.............

Manage and evaluate workflow within department and ensure employees follow established procedures.

EDUCATION

 

Required........

High school degree or GED.  Should possess or should obtain the knowledge, skills, and disciplines needed to carry out the functions assigned to the individual occupying this position.

EXPERIENCE

 

Required........

Three years of supervisory experience, preferably in a seafood processing/distribution environment.  Knowledge of RoadNet routing and computer on board systems is essential.
